Finally, I've seen the film I've been awaiting for months -- yes, by now anyone who reads this blog and anyone who knows me would have figured out it's Kaminey!! It was a bit weird, saying 'Kaminey' at the ticket counter, but luckily I controlled my giggles... The film kept up to expectations -- it has sharp wit, a tight plot and great acting by all concerned. Shahid was in total control of his role, playing the twin brothers well. For those who are used to seeing him only as a cutie pie (well that's what he has mostly done but I don't mind it the least), this film makes you take him seriously. His parents' genes seem to be working finally and he should definitely thank god for Vishal Bhardwaj.
Mom and I generally like to see the same kind of films but this was one she wanted to avoid. Dhan Te Nan and what nonsense, she would say, with utter disgust, every time the song played on TV. I told her -- Mom, you will see, Shahid will win all the awards next year for this....
Anyway, I want to write about two special people who made the day worthwhile. They had travelled quite a distance and that too for the morning show to watch the film. It felt like we were all geared up to go to office!! Ha ha! I guess my two office friends knew how eagerly I wanted to see it. We finally made it, after days of planning, and we spent a happy day, happiest for me no doubt, because I was sure that if I didn't see it this week, it would have been taken off the theatres. What a sad thought!
Today's outing also reinforces the point that office friendships can be sustained, although they are more likely to flourish outside the office, if you get the drift, as we are free from certain restrictions and formalities. Everyone is always so busy in today's world, we always have a constant 'things to do' in our head, so it's good to get some time when you can be yourself and that can happen only with friends! It's been many months since I went anywhere with a gang of friends so here's hoping for many more such pleasant plans and more such happiness!!

ReplyDeleteYes, I agree fully and Bhai agrees too. To quote, he said "Let's not wait for another Kaminey to make such plans". :)
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to read about the fun time you guys had. But all throughout I had one image stuck in my head - you saying 'Kaminey' at the counter :)
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure you went and whispered 'Kamini' and the man behind the counter gave you the tickets anyway.
ReplyDeleteNahin yaar, I did say Kaminey!!
