Where is the trust?

I often ask myself, where is the trust in today's world? Why is it that we have to be so careful in interacting with people? Why do we have to sometimes undo the values we learnt as children? Why is it that we can no longer afford to talk comfortably with fellow commuters? Why does a simple question by a stranger unnerve us? Why do we hesitate in helping people in need? How do we judge who's genuine and who's pretending? Why is it that we no longer accept food given by a stranger in a train journey? Why are we told to be careful at airports and not help anyone out, even an elderly person, as they struggle with their baggage? Why can't girls trust their boyfriends? Heard of date-rapes? Isn't it disgusting that the word exists? Why is it that a mother is afraid of leaving her baby at home? A man was once convicted for the rape of his child. The judge, who got emotional said, where else is a woman supposed to leave her child, if not with the father? Why don't people feel safe walking on the streets ? Why does a late-night stroll or a visit to the discotheque turn unpleasant? Why does the world seem magical only in films?

What is the world coming to? Where is the innocence? Or, like a friend said, is it that the world was always like this, it's just that we grew up?

  1. Very valid questions....
If every person on earth asks these question to themselves...maybe we won't have to talk about them any further....
    Till then.....

  2. You know where I stand on the debate. But from reading the post it does seem like things are going from bad to worse.

  4. The people who are behind these anti-social activities need to ask themselves these questions, we are at the receiving end.

  5. Your friend is right. The world was always like this. We grew up. But I sure hope there are enough people like us out there -- to make life worth living.
