The power of music

I will probably never forget the evening of 7 November - I was going to see my first live concert and I absolutely loved it. The week hasn't been too good so when Mom said her office was inviting Kailash Kher to be part of their anniversary function, I jumped at the opportunity.

I love music, I have a song in my head almost always and I don't know how I would pass time during my daily commutes if I didn't have a music player (thanks to my lovely brother).

I really like Kailash Kher's music -- for its classical touch but more so for its lyrics. But yesterday, I was surprised to see a full-fledged band. I knew about the two brothers - Naresh and Paresh - who were part of his band, but there were at least six people here -- all playing the instruments so beautifully.

During that fantastic performance, which lasted over an hour, the smile didn't leave my face and I was amazed at the power in Kailash Kher's voice (he is as good as in the records). Not many people can sing well live. That one hour, I forgot about my problems, the painful memories which had jumped back at me only a few hours earlier. That evening - I remembered only the beautiful songs and the meaningful lyrics which transported me to another world.

I love watching music shows on TV but a live performance is truly different. It makes you experience something which you have heard of a million times -- the power of music.
