What you didn't know about your cab driver!

Everyone in the office knows him - and he's not an employee! He is one of our taxi drivers - who's been assosciated with the organization for many years. Any time you want a cab, this is the man who will be able to provide you one (well, almost always) in his favourite words - within five minutes! From locals to foreign guests to the building's security guards - everyone knows him.

Even though we see him and his group of affiliated cab drivers regularly, I was surprised to learn some facts about him - which led to a few laughs. Let's call the man Mr ABC.

We have recently started some early morning shifts at work and Mr ABC comes to pick us up. A colleague narrated a conversation between him and ABC one of these mornings. ABC was complaining how some of the other drivers are quite slow to get started for work and in his words, sluggish and inefficient. In the morning, he said they took ages to get ready for work and questioned why they needed so much time! We thought he was being a bit harsh, and probably
'military-like' in his approach. My colleague suggested that ABC join the army; they would certainly appreciate his discipline and swiftness. Then came the bombshell - Mr ABC had indeed spent a few months in the army many years ago! When asked why he left, he murmured something on the lines of 'can't lead a normal life' and something else, which I don't want to repeat here, which certainly got me giggling.

Now every time I see him, I'm reminded of the army reference and try hard to keep myself from smiling. He would be apt in the forces. Speaking of smiles, I've rarely seen one from Mr ABC. Come to think of it, maybe it's the training . :)
